Dominiek’s counselling practice with victim-survivors of sexual violence is informed by her work as Research and Program Manager for Blueknot Foundation (formerly ASCA), her work as Director of Research for ANROWS (Australia’s National Research Organisation on Women’s Safety), and her role as Director of Research at the National Centre for Action on Child Sexual Abuse. In her role at Blueknot Foundation she developed a series of programs for adult survivors of childhood trauma. In this capacity she developed the first iteration of the trauma-informed principles of care that have become widely adopted. She also published three papers outlining the biopsychosocial impacts of childhood trauma, principles of best-practice and existing treatment models. During her time at ANROWS she led and oversaw research to respond to and reduce sexual violence against women. Relevant publications are outlined here.
In addition to her professional and academic experience, her work is also informed by her lived experience.
